Metelan, Germany | Battery Energy Storage System | Completed

Source Ltd was appointed by H&MV, acting on behalf of SMA Group, to deliver the civil and high-voltage infrastructure for a state-of-the-art 231 MWh Battery Energy Storage Facility in Metelen, Germany.
Our scope included the full turnkey delivery of the plant’s enabling works, foundation systems, duct networks, and supporting electrical infrastructure, including a new high-voltage substation.

Site Preparation & Civil Works

  • Full site investigation, enabling works & bulk excavation to formation

  • Placement of sub-base stone and formation build-up for equipment platforms

Ducting & Grid Infrastructure

  • 5,000m of LV, MV and fibre ducting with 20 precast chambers

  • 2,000m MV grid route, including 500m of directional drilling under a live roadway

Structural Foundations

  • 700 precast concrete plinths (700×700×700mm) for battery and inverter units

  • Construction of 2 modular building basements

  • Transformer bund for 100-tonne transformer installation

Site Systems & Perimeter Works

  • 71 acoustic wall foundations (1.9m × 1.9m × 0.8m)

  • Installation of storm and foul drainage

  • 500m security fence with 3 access gates
