Source Civil Ltd was appointed as the Civils contractor by Kirby Group working on behalf of the ESB, the scope of works included carrying out all Civil and Structural works to the ESB Battery Energy Storage Station (BESS). Due to the existing levels of the brownfield site being inadequate for construction, Source Civil completed a mass fill operation to prepare for the installation of 128 in-situ concrete piles.

Summary of the project

  • Cropping of 128 In Situ Piles.
  • Installation of in excess of 5300m of ductwork ranging from 50mm to 160mm.
  • Installation of new Foul and Storm drainage lines while working carefully to avoid
    existing powerlines carrying over 10,000Volts.
  • Installation of 185m3 Attenuation Tank.
  • Installation of Earthing Grid across the entire site.
  • Supply & installation of over 100 Tonne of rebar and 700m3 of Concrete, across 24
    Concrete bases, 1 Transformer Bund, and 2 Firewalls at 9m high.
  • Erected an architectural wall measuring 100m and installed 525m of ESB Spec
    palisade fencing.
