OVERVIEW
Source Civil were appointed as the Main Contractor to construct improvements to the existing public water supply scheme in the village of Conna, County Cork. This project forms Stage 1 of an overall proposed project to upgrade the existing Conna Regional Water Supply Scheme and extend its service area to supply a number of additional existing settlements within the River Bride Valley.
SUMMARY
The works comprised of the following works:
The construction of a Pre-cast concrete reservoir on a greenfield site approximately 600m south of Conna Village.
The installation of 5km of watermains including all specified valves, fittings, anchors blocks, connections, service connections, and reinstatement works as follows:
• The construction, installation, testing and commissioning of a 221m³ pre-cast concrete reservoir with a top water level of 81.6mOD, on a greenfield site approximately 600m south of Conna Village.
• The construction, installation, testing and commissioning of the following water mains, including all specified valves, fittings, anchors blocks, connections, service connections, and reinstatement works. Pipeline installation by open cut and directional drilling methods of the following pipework:
• 200mm diameter 12 Bar uPVC rising main from the existing scheme source to the new reservoir.
• 200mm diameter 9 Bar uPVC distribution main from the new reservoir to the centre of Conna Village and 200mm diameter 9 Bar uPVC distribution main to replace an existing 75mm diameter cast-iron distribution main and 200mm diameter 9 Bar uPVC distribution main to replace an existing 100mm diameter cast-iron and uPVC distribution main.
• 100mm diameter Class K9 Ductile Iron distribution main and 150mm diameter 9 Bar uPVC distribution main to replace an existing 75mm diameter cast-iron distribution main.
• 200mm diameter 6 Bar uPVC scour main from the new reservoir to an existing watercourse.
• Construction of access road 350m long including accommodation works to the Conna Reservoir.
